What it is
Instant Checkout let people in the US buy from Etsy sellers and Shopify merchants without leaving a ChatGPT conversation, using the Agentic Commerce Protocol built by OpenAI and Stripe. OpenAI ended standalone Instant Checkout on 24 March 2026. ChatGPT now focuses on product discovery from merchant feeds, and purchases complete on the merchant's own site, in an in-app browser, or inside a retailer's ChatGPT app.

Historical reference. Merchants who want to sell through ChatGPT should look at product feeds for ChatGPT discovery, Shopify Agentic Storefronts, or building a ChatGPT app.
